Sony A7 IV · FTP transferSend photos live from your Sony A7 IV
Set up FTP transfer once and every photo you shoot reaches Photomitra and your guests' phones in seconds.
Works with: Sony A7 IV (ILCE-7M4), any firmware (latest recommended). Last checked 16 October 2026.
Before you start
Open Photomitra on your phone or laptop and go to QR & cameras: it shows your Server, Port and your team's camera login. Keep it open while you set up the camera.
Sony A7 IV FTP setup, step by step
- 1
Connect the camera to Wi-Fi
MENU → Network → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Connect: On. If your network isn't listed, use Access Point Set. and enter its name and password.
- 2
Enter the server
MENU → Network → FTP Transfer → FTP Transfer Func. → Server Setting → Server 1 → Destination Settings. Host Name: the Server shown in Photomitra (QR & cameras). Secure Protocol: Off. Port: the Port shown there. The A7 IV always uses passive mode.
- 3
Enter your camera login
Still in Server 1: Directory Settings → Specify Directory: /cam01 (the next camera /cam02, and so on). User Info Settings → User and Password: your team's camera login. Then pick Server 1 under Server Setting.
- 4
Turn on FTP
FTP Transfer Func. → FTP Function: On. FTP Power Save: Off, so the camera stays connected between shots.
- 5
Send small JPEGs
MENU → Shooting → Image Quality → Image Quality Settings: File Format: RAW & JPEG, JPEG Image Size: S (8.2M), JPEG Quality: Standard. Then FTP Transfer Func. → RAW+J/H Transfer Target: JPEG & HEIF (it sends only the JPEG). Your RAW stays full size on the card.
- 6
Turn on automatic sending
FTP Transfer Func. → Auto FTP Transfer: On. Auto FTP Target → Still Image: All, Movie: Only Shot Mark, so your videos stay on the card. Take 2–3 test shots to check.
Sony A7 IV setup: questions
Will my videos upload?
Only if Auto FTP Target → Movie is set to All. Choose Only Shot Mark and don't add Shot Marks: videos then stay on the card.
Two A7 IVs on the same event?
Set up one, then FTP Transfer Func. → Save/Load FTP Settings → Save to the card, and Load it on the other A7 IV (same firmware). Change its Specify Directory to /cam02.
Why send small JPEGs?
A full-size JPEG can take a minute on a hotspot, so photos queue up and reach guests late. Photomitra shrinks every photo for guests anyway, and your RAW stays full size on the card.
