The wedding is over, the family is tired, and every relative is asking the same question on WhatsApp: when will we get the photos? How you answer that question is the last thing the family remembers about your work. A good delivery feels quick, organised and easy for everyone, from the couple to the grandparents. A poor one can undo weeks of beautiful shooting.
This guide compares the ways Indian studios deliver wedding photos today, what each one is good for, where it lets you down, and a simple plan that works for most weddings.
What a good delivery does
Before choosing a tool, it helps to be clear about what the family needs:
- Full quality: the photos they download should be the files you edited, not compressed copies.
- Organised by function: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, wedding and reception, each easy to find.
- Easy on a phone: most relatives will open the link on a phone, many of them for the first time.
- There long enough: the family needs time to download, share and choose album photos.
- Private: wedding photos are personal. The family should decide who sees them.
- Your name on it: every time a relative opens the photos, they should see whose work it is.
The common ways, compared
It is where the family already is, and it is perfect for sending a few highlights the same night. But photos sent the normal way are compressed, and sending them as documents keeps the file but arrives one by one, with no previews. For a full wedding, use WhatsApp to send a link, not the photos themselves.
Google Drive
Familiar and free to start. Google gives 15 GB free, shared between Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, which a full wedding of edited photos and films can easily pass. Extra storage costs money every month: a July 2026 buyer's guide lists Google One at about ₹130 a month for 100 GB and ₹650 a month for 2 TB in India. Drive also shows your folders, not your brand, and relatives often get stuck on "request access" screens.
WeTransfer
Good for sending a large file once to one person, such as a film to an editor. Its free plan allows up to 10 transfers or 3 GB in total in any 30-day period (WeTransfer's help centre, May 2026), which is far less than a wedding. The links are temporary, so families who come back later find nothing.
A pen drive or hard disk
Still common for the final delivery, and many families like a physical keepsake in the album box. But it needs a meeting or a courier, it can be lost, and relatives in other cities can't open it. Treat it as a gift, alongside an online copy, not as the only way.
An online gallery
A gallery link made for photo delivery solves most of the problems above: photos grouped by function, downloads in full quality, a PIN when the family wants privacy, and your studio's name and logo on every page. Some galleries also let each guest find the photos they are in with a selfie, so the couple doesn't have to forward photos to every relative.

A delivery plan families remember
You don't need to deliver everything at once. A delivery in stages keeps the family happy while you edit:
- During the event: guests get their own photos the same day, so the questions on WhatsApp stop before they start.
- Within a few days: a sneak peek of 20 to 40 edited favourites for the couple to post.
- When editing is done: the full gallery, grouped by function, with downloads in full quality.
- For the album: a selection link with a clear limit and deadline (our guide to album photo selection covers this step).
- The finish: the printed album, an e-album the family can share, and a pen drive if you include one.
- After delivery: your originals go into safe, long-term storage (see how to back up wedding photos).
Write the delivery plan in your quotation
List what the family gets at each stage and when: same-day photos, sneak peek, full gallery, album. Clear promises make a calmer family, and fewer follow-up calls for you.
Keep the file names
Edited JPEGs that keep the camera's file names (DSC04821, IMG_2210) make the album step much easier: when the couple picks a photo, you can find the RAW file in seconds. Rename only if you also keep a list that maps the new names to the old ones.
How Photomitra helps
With Photomitra, guests scan a QR at the venue, take a selfie and get the photos they are in during the event, straight from your cameras, and download them in full quality. The full gallery opens to the family when you choose, and client links can carry an optional 4-digit PIN. Photos stay online for 30 days after the event, and you can keep them 30, 60 or 90 days longer while the couple chooses album photos. Afterwards, your originals rest in the archive vault, ready to hand to the couple again with a download link.
