Most couples in India ask three or four studios for a quote, then compare them side by side on WhatsApp. The studio that wins is often not the cheapest one: it is the one whose quote is easiest to understand. This guide covers what couples actually compare, what typical packages cost in 2026, and a simple way to set rates that pay you properly.
What couples actually compare
When a family reads your quotation, they are looking for answers to a few questions. If your quote answers them without a phone call, you are already ahead.
- Which functions are covered: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, wedding, reception. Many families want each one listed with a date.
- Who is shooting: traditional photographer, candid photographer, videographer, drone. The number of people matters more to them than the camera names.
- What they receive: how many edited photos, album sheets and pages, a highlights film, the full film, an e-album.
- When they receive it: the delivery time for photos, film and album.
- What costs extra: travel outside the city, extra hours, extra album pages, prints.
Three packages that are easy to choose from
Three clear tiers work better than one price or ten options. Here is a structure many studios use. Change the contents to match your style and city.
- Essential: the main wedding day, one traditional photographer and one videographer, edited photos, one album.
- Signature: every function, candid and traditional photographers, a highlights film, two albums, an e-album to share.
- Premium: all of Signature plus a pre-wedding shoot, a drone, a larger team on the big day and live photo delivery for guests.
Name the middle package as the one most couples pick
Most families choose the middle option when the three are clearly different. Put your best value there, and make Premium the package that shows everything you can do.

Typical prices in 2026, and where they come from
There is no official price list for wedding photography in India, so treat any number as a guide, not a rule. Two public sources give a useful picture:
- Per-day rates on vendor listings: wedding photographers on WeddingBazaar list about ₹25,000 to ₹45,000 per day for photo and video together in cities such as Pune, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Mumbai, with candid photography often listed separately at about ₹10,000 to ₹20,000.
- Full packages in a metro: a Delhi studio's 2026 pricing guide puts a basic package for a smaller wedding at about ₹50,000 to ₹80,000, candid photography with a cinematic film across several functions at ₹1 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh, and luxury or destination weddings from ₹3 lakh upwards.
Prices are higher in metros, in the wedding season and for destination work. Smaller towns are often lower. The useful question is not what others charge but what your work costs you, which the next section works out.
Work out your own day rate
Start from your real costs for one wedding day, then add your profit. A simple example (use your own numbers):
- Team: three people at ₹4,000 each = ₹12,000
- Editing: three days of editing at ₹2,500 a day = ₹7,500
- Album printing and box: ₹8,000
- Travel and food within the city: ₹3,000
- Equipment wear, software and storage, spread over the year: ₹3,500
That is ₹34,000 of cost. Add a 30% margin and the day is worth about ₹44,000. If that is above what couples in your city pay, look at what you can trim (album size, team size on smaller functions) rather than cutting your margin to zero.
Your time counts too
Include the hours you spend on calls, quotations, selection and delivery. They are part of every wedding even if no one sees them.
Make the quotation easy to say yes to
A quotation that is clear and quick to read gets a faster yes. A few habits make a big difference:
- Go function by function, with the date, venue, hours and team for each.
- List the deliverables with numbers: edited photos, album pages, films and their length, delivery times.
- Write the payment schedule: the advance that blocks the date, and when the balance is due.
- Say what costs extra and how much: extra hours, extra pages, travel.
- Give it a validity date, so the family knows the price is held for them for a while.
- Send it the same day they ask, as a link or PDF they can forward to the family group.

Add-ons that raise the booking without pushing
Some extras sell themselves because the family can picture them:
- Live photo delivery at the event: guests scan a QR, take a selfie and get their photos the same day.
- An e-album: the finished album as a page-turning book the family can share on WhatsApp.
- Extra prints and a parents' album: small, easy decisions after the wedding.
- A pre-wedding shoot: often booked together with the wedding.
